‘The Faces of Paramedicine’

From May 22 through 28, Kawartha Lakes is celebrating Paramedic Service Week. The community is invited to recognize the work of Kawartha Lakes Paramedics to serve the health and our team of Kawartha Lakes Paramedics do each and everyday to serve our community.

This year the theme of the week is The Faces of Paramedicine. Within Kawartha Lakes Paramedic Service, we have various teams working to meet the needs of our growing and aging community:

  • Frontline Paramedics who service 911 calls and provide emergency medical attention. In 2021, Paramedics answered a call for help every 18 minutes.

  • The Logistics Team who keep our operations running smoothly with reliable vehicles and well stocked with the necessary supplies.

  • Community Paramedics who provide a unique service to seniors and others who are in need of home care and remote monitoring to stay safely at home and out of the hospital.

  • Educators who help keep Paramedics’ skills current and ensure that all qualifications meet or exceed ministry standard

“Paramedic Week gives us the opportunity to thank these dedicated people who go above and beyond each and every day. They care about their patients and want to see the best health outcomes for each and every one. I couldn’t be more proud of this team and the way they continually rise to the challenges they are faced with from rising call demands to pandemic protocols,” said Randy Mellow, Chief of Paramedics.

In past years, the Paramedics have hosted a community education event in downtown Lindsay. They will be celebrating this Paramedics Week by spending time together with their colleagues and families at private events supported by local businesses.
